Last day overseas, 11 June

The very last thing we did before we checked out of our room, interesting cushions ya

Me at Chelsea stadium, can't imagine a person like me who doesn't even watch soccer be at Chelsea home, lol

The place where CFC signed all their players.

Well... today feels like any other day just that its my last day overseas and i'll have to get back to the hot and humid singapore. So today W brought us to the ever famous chelsea stadium which i nv knew that it existed. LOL. So after that we went back to Harrods n took a slow walk through the complex. Damn big.. things are damn expensive as well... really is a place for the very rich. Anyway I had a very satisfying Irish smoked salmon that cost 15 pounds. I have no idea why W + J keep converting the pounds to sg dollars; that way u'll nv be able to enjoy anything decent in London. J ended up with a cheese + goat milk Quiche. What a UNIQUE taste. lol. Totally there was a strong after taste of goaty feeling. I cant take that. Really spoils my taste. Haha. J was there "enjoying" it... damn funny. Airport wasn't that crowded... or was it just us? Being there 3 1/2 hours before. Usual plane ride... n here i am back in singapore on the 12 May. I must say 4 wks is really a short time in germany. Just when I feel that we were starting to get immersed into the culture of germany and we had to leave. Sad. I miss the not so crowded streets of darmstadt and the beautiful feeling of al fresco dining. Something that we'll nv be able to get here in singapore.

London Day 2

Me at Trafalgar Square

Some posing at the fountain in front of Buckingham Palace

In front of Buckingham Palace

St Paul's Cathedral

There's the Tate Modern in the background, never went in though, not really an artistic person

A very nice evening sun by the river

Well, as mentioned in my earlier post, don't feel like writing anything today, will update when I feel like it, anyway, the only thing i would like to talk about is the use of chopsticks. This day we were at Wagamama a noodle cafe and well... someone beside me, a chinese, of all people in the restaurant asked for a set of fork and spoon coz this person can't use chopsticks, lol, jokes. I shall not name names. =P

London Day 1

Harrods

Me n W at the Big Ben

The London Eye

Me n J in the London Eye

Some emo pic of me, but hey, a nice view up the London Eye

A very nice Tower Bridge, at first I thought this was the London Bridge but no, there's another bridge named the London Bridge and is nowhere near the beauty of this , London Bridge is just another normal bridge just down the river

Well, I don't really have the feel to write anything at the moment, so i'm just posting up photos taken in London first...

3rd Wkend, Sat - Mannheim ; Sun - Frankensteinburg

Some garden in the middle of Mannheim

A very nicely furnished interior of the church in Mannheim

The huge pieces of meat on this huge satay stick, lol, with pure wine, the rest of them had wine-schorle, NUBs! lol, kk, j/king.

Some ruins at Frankensteinburg, doesn't the doorway look like a face?

First time that close to a horse, they are really beautiful.

Me n W at Frankenstein

Me and A at this uber old catapult, if i'm not wrong its from the 1200s.

On this very saturday, me,J , W, BM made a trip down to Mannheim. When i'm writing this its already the 6 Aug, I don't quite remember what we actually did on that day. We were there, walking around, looking at more churches n old buildings. Its getting kinda repetitive already and therefore boring. We were walking around in town and I remember we had this jap lunch at this small stall run by a taiwanese. Of coz the uncle there looked happy when he actually saw more chinese patronizing him. As what most chinese will do when they see chinese in a foreign country, we got some special treatment - free soup and extra tea if my memory still serves me. Next up was this funfair we went to, i'm not sure if it was kind of a impromptu event planned but it sure does look quite normal to me other than the helicopter ride that it offered. Well... other than some foodstuff they sell there and kiddy rides, somehow it was like a flea market as well, for cars, bikes, sofas and many other stuff. Well... it was normal so I din really get a shot of the place. I did wanna get this dragon thingy there as it looked kinda cool but J mentioned it being as evil or something... as my father says... if someone mentions smthing like that, better believe than not. Next was the S-Bahn ride, their S-Bahn indeed is more posh than those in Darmstadt, sorry no pics for that as well, n well so much for the automated toilet, the first time i've seen a toilet stuck and people just use it as it is. The bowl was like overflowing - the joke was, i went into the toilet first after W, W mentioned something like something was spoilt, didn't really expressed herself that well... until I went in and saw it for myself. It was like 'OMFGWTFBBQ!'. The fluid in the bowl was like going to overflow anytime soon and u can actually see it swaying here and there following the train's movements. It was like if i'm gonna use it first, J wouldn't be able to sit on it you see, coz it was seriously near the brim. So I went out and kindly let J use it first. It was the joke of the day. Some crazy shit on the train man, luckily nothing solid was floating on it, lol. After that we went to this small town where there was this small fest happening. Suppose to taste the wine there, but I ended up getting a glass only. As usual, J and W had to try them but just refused to finished this glass of schorle( its wine mixed with carbonated water), they were sharing somemore. I wondered y wasn't I that nice to just buy a glass myself n let them try mine instead rather than having the pain to push the drinks here and there. Oh well, its over already. Once again, they were selling this huge satay stick, Speiss, i think that's what they call it. Very nice, tender and the same time juicy, man, i do miss it. Think it'll cost a bomb for such a huge stick of meat in singapore. Well... guess this marks the end of Sat.

On Sun, me, W and A went down to Frankensteinburg. It was like on top of this mountain near our stadt(Eberstadt) and it will kinda be a wasted trip if we didn't get the chance to get to the castle which is at the top of the hill in Eberstadt. The journey up was a pain man. I mean its been so long since I ever last exercised and I see older folks going up like effortlessly, bikers as well. Some foresty sceneries up, nothing interesting, juz that W got panicky coz there were a few orange slugs, lol. Personally, i've never seen them before, they looked kinda ugh, i dunnoe how to describe it. Well, but the thing is, even for a guy, when they see something they don't really like the feeling of it, we are suppose to keep our calm. Freaking out seems to be the unique _______ of gals (sorry can't think of the word to fit it, dun mind suggestions though). Anyway, you ppl get what i mean. Ok, I should stop the deviation, anyway we got to the top of the castle in an hour's time. Well.. we could see Darmstadt, Eberstadt and Frankfurt on the top. There was another town we saw coz my host did mention about it but well.. i forgot what was the last town's name. Nothing fantastic really, just that the locals like to climb up this hill on weekends as a recreation and then enjoy an alfresco lunch / breakfast at the top of the hill. Very nice indeed, sad to speak there's no such thing in singapore, no peaks for us to enjoy the wind and the feel the magnificence of nature. As much as i love nature, i fear it at the same time. Humans are just so weak compared to the predators or living fears of nature. Humans die to a snake bite, or insect bite maybe, can't outrun land predators nor outswim the sharks in the sea, jellyfish can kill humans as well, if you are thinking of the not so fast. That's how fragile how humans can be. Anyway, we had an encounter with this couple who breeds horse, they are beautiful I must say. Had a couple of pictures with the horses. After that we just made our way down, almost got lost though, haha, coz we didn't take our original route down, just anyhow wack through the forest. Seriously, we walked until there's no foot tracks to be seen, lol, luckily we hit the road and asked for directions, lol. What a joke.

3rd Wk in Darmstadt

Merck

The Chef

Our dish, Spargel mit Hollandaise sauce, of coz there will always be a meat item that accompanies it.

The dessert of the day

Some printing block exhibition outside the printing museum in Mainz

Some modern artistic structure contrasting with the old church in the background

The main door of the church, there's some inscription on the door if we look closely.

The very nice inner cloister of the church.

Path leading to the catacombs, well.. you can try finding Andariel in there, lol.

The red signs leads to the river while the blue ones ran parallel to it, interesting.

The half meter long sausage!

Well... I kinda thought the 3rd wk was boring. The day we got back to school, we had an excursion to Merck in the afternoon. It was this pharmaceutical product production factory, no pictures were allowed in the compound and well... neither did I bother about taking pictures from outside. Seriously, I wasn't interested in that area maybe coz i'm just a mechanical engineer. The rest seemed very enthusiastic about it, keep asking questions and stuff.. and to me was.. zzzz. Well, the only thing good about it was, there was a tea reception... lol, the cakes were alright, but the tea there was... well.. maybe i didn't really know how to appreciate them. Ended up mixing 3 different tea bags into a cup. LOL. They all taste like crap anyway, might as well right... haha.
On wed, we had a cooking lesson. We had the cooking lesson in a hospital, what a weird place. Guess wad, more spargel.... zzz.. I've had a lot in my host family and now we are gonna cook more spargel??! Spargel with hollandaise sauce is what the Germans like, totally not my interest. Well, anyway, we were like specially brought there to learn how to cook this dish... so as always... for show... i'll just say its good to the chef and stuff - like i always do. Well... sadly, i do not have photos for this event as well, too lazy to take out my camera n cook at the same time ya noe. Well... of coz I can get pics from my friends but then again, i think i'm getting lazier by the day - Even changing my hard drive coz my pics are in the other one, its such a chore keep plugging my hard drive in and out ya.
Lastly for the weekdays, we went over to Mainz. Another city in the vicinity of Darmstadt. From what I remember, we were brought there to look at the river Mainz, some architecture stuff, a museum (forgot what the name was, some bible printing and originality thingy - printing museum i guess.) and to try the brewery over there. It didn't really leave a strong impression on me other than the street signs. Coz there were red and blue signs and i think the red signs led to the river while the blue ones ran parallel to the river, so as to facilitate putting out of fire in the olden days, interesting. Oh, and and that buildings around the churches were left intact as the olden day bombers needed the tall churches for navigation purposes so they couldn't destroy their only ground feature, lol, reminds me of looking out for ground features when I was flying, they call it visual flying. Hence you can see a lot of old buildings in Germany surrounding old churches. Well, we ended our day with a dinner at a brewery in Mainz. The half meter long sausage is what we ordered - we didn't expect the sausage to be curled up really, was thinking of how else they were gonna serve such a long sausage, it didn't really look that 'wow' on the plate anyway.
